We are now offering a line of spalling
hammers for those with local raw knapping stone resources. These solid
carbon steel spalling hammers are suitable for reducing raw blocks or nodules of
rough material into usable spalls and flakes. We use these same hammers
for reducing raw Novaculite and Keokuk from its rawest block form right out
of the quarry. For spalling brittle material such as obsidian or
glass please check out our brass spalling hammer.
Steel hammer heads are constructed of carbon steel, and are
not considered soft treated steel. Weight of the hammer is of
the hammer head alone. Hardwood Oak handles are approx 7 inches in
length and are wrapped with an anti-slip fabric grip tape.
