Lightweight, versatile and durable billet made from
solid aluminum. Metal billets are precision tools, and this lightweight
model is what we use for trimming, cleaning and light flintknapping around the
shop. Metal billets can save your arm and wallet if you do a lot of
flintknapping since these can be resurfaced multiple times.
Metal percussion billets behave
differently than antler, are not historically correct, but do come in
handy for general flintknapping as well as tackling those problematic step
fractures and over beveled platforms.
Aluminum billets work well on heated novaculite and other
easy-to-knap materials. Especially good for smaller knapping projects up to 4
inches.
6 1/2 by 1 inch with domed tip. Ready-to-use. Imported.

Billet for tips and information on how this billet compares
to other types of percussion tools.
Our most popular size of traditional percussion tool, this
medium 5-8 oz traditional antler billet is perfect for flake removal
and some fine work on medium to small points and blades. Sourced
from naturally shed deer antler, all of our 'abo' billets are
domed and can be resurfaced many times. Sold
individually.
Thick and durable large rubber leg pad helps
prevent damage to your clothing and leg/knee during
percussion knapping and provides support when
pressure flaking.
Graded for beginners and our own kit material, these small
spalls and flakes range from 2-4 inches in length. Mix may include:
heated keokuk chert, Georgetown flint, heat
treated novaculite, obsidian, and/or dacite. Sold by the pound
(3-5 pieces per lb).
