This type of percussion billet features a machined solid
copper head attached to a durable delrin plastic handle. Extremely
well made and durable, definitely more of a permanent tool that will
outlast most other billet designs. Smaller handles than our copper boppers,
great for using a sheering percussion strike similar to that of a
hammerstone. Particularly well suited for dense material that would
otherwise cause damage to a softer billet.
Although substantially more expensive to produce, these can
be resurfaced many times and can save some real money if you do a lot of
flintknapping. Modern solid metal, and solid metal
headed billets are some of the longest
lasting percussion billets available.
Solid metal headed percussion billets behave
differently than lead filled copper boppers and antler in that they
are a harder material and may require slight adjustments in use and
The medium size is perfect for small to medium points
and blades and finishing work. Great for thinning 2-4 material and finish
flaking on larger blades.
